About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our vehicle maintenance workshop. The ideal candidate will oversee all servicing, repair, and diagnostic activities for large commercial and service vehicles, ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient turnaround, and adherence to safety standards.

This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to managing people, processes, and equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the repair, servicing, and maintenance of heavy-duty and commercial vehicles (e.g., trucks, utility vehicles, loaders, etc.).

  • Manage a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of work orders.

  • Schedule and prioritize jobs based on operational needs and customer deadlines.

  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to maintain high repair standards.

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, parts usage, and service reports.

  • Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability and cost control.

  • Enforce safety protocols and compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Liaise with management, suppliers, and clients regarding job progress, estimates, and technical issues.

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.

  • Monitor and report on workshop performance metrics, including turnaround time and cost efficiency.


Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in automotive repair, mechanical maintenance, or workshop supervision, ideally with large or commercial vehicles.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Technical certification or qualification in automotive mechanics / heavy vehicle maintenance preferred.

  • Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
